Marcus Promotions Fills Need For Expanded Arts Coverage in 2021
The Publisher of Footlights Performing Arts Programs Announces the Launch of ArtsScene Magazine
MILWAUKEE – Marcus Promotions, Inc., founder and publisher of Footlights programs for local performing arts groups, announced a new arts publication rolling out later this year. ArtsScene, a monthly magazine highlighting various visual and performing artists and arts groups throughout the Greater Milwaukee and Madison areas, will launch its first issue on January 1st.
“We are thrilled to bring this magazine to the community,” shares Ryan Albrechtson, who served as Editor of Footlights and ArtsScene during its launch. “After not writing much about the arts since March, I’m so excited to jump back in with our team and continue to share these stories in an even bigger way than before!”
ArtsScene will start as a digital “flip” style book with active links to videos, sites, sounds, and other mixed media content, with the hope to eventually expand into a print publication down the line. Content for the monthly magazine will include listings for in-person and virtual events; listings of local performing arts venues, galleries, and other arts centric locations; highlights featuring local artists and profiles; recommendations for local restaurants and hotels; previews and reviews of local performances, art shows, and concerts; and creative content submitted by local artists.
“With the demise of most print media, there are less and less pages devoted to the arts,” says Steve Marcus, President and Publisher of Footlights and ArtsScene. “Media coverage is sorely lacking in Southeast Wisconsin. The arts need a voice. There needs to be a place to go to find out what, when, where, and why. Enter stage right… ArtsScene.”
